Adrian Peterson at quarterback is an experiment worth watching

Adrian Peterson told reporters he's taking snaps at quarterback and we want to see it.

The Minnesota Vikings will eventually turn the quarterback duties over to Sam Bradford. After trading a first-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for him, that much is obvious.

But getting a quarterback ready to start for an NFL team in a week isn't easy, so Shaun Hill, a 36-year-old veteran who spent 2015 as Teddy Bridgewater's backup, got the nod in Week 1. After another week of preparation, it's possible that Bradford will make his debut on Sunday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers.

There's a third option, though.

"I've really been, this week I've kinda been laying back and kind of getting my shoulder warmed up, taking some snaps from the quarterback position, so you know we'll see how things go," Vikings running back Adrian Peterson told reporters on Thursday with a straight face. "Hopefully they give me the nod and I'm able to go out and be that starting quarterback for us."

I, for one, am looking forward to it.

In 121 NFL games over 10 seasons, Peterson has thrown exactly zero passes. In three years and 31 games at Oklahoma, it was the same.

From the evidence available to us, it's possible Peterson has no idea how to even throw a football. That would be really, really surprising for a 6'2, 217-pound tank of an athlete who can catch passes out of the backfield as well, but hey ... it's possible.

But who cares if he can't? The Vikings don't really want to pass the ball much anyway. No team attempted fewer passes than Minnesota during the 2015 season and that was with Teddy Bridgewater healthy.

Just put in an extra offensive lineman and get this tank rolling downhill. And when the Packers load up to stop it, have Peterson just throw it as far as he can and see if someone like Stefon Diggs or Adam Thielen can get behind the defense.

No disrespect to Hill or Bradford, but Peterson at quarterback is an experiment I want to see and I hope it happens on Sunday.
