Ouch! @LAGalaxy's Nigel de Jong goes in hard on @TimbersFC's Darlington Nagbe, emerges with a yellow card. #LAvPOR https://t.co/sQS1EQIUZI

On Sunday against the LA Galaxy, Portland Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe was tackled in the 76th minute by Nigel de Jong.
As bad as this looks, this only merited a yellow card from MLS referees which is incredibly lenient. Unfortunately, this didn't look like a yellow after Nagbe didn't get up and had to be taken off the pitch via wheelchair.

This isn't the first time that midfielder Nigel de Jong has been accused of playing dirty either.
And the reaction to the hit was definitely an indication that the hit was more than just innocent.
That was a purple card for DeJong. Well beyond red.

Might as well stick a skull and crossbones on said card while you're at it. https://t.co/uXLNfG9RcG

Even the Portland Timbers' official Twitter seemed outraged and made sure to bring up past events that merited a red card.
Hey @LAGalaxy, last year this acct justified a RC on Ridgewell w/a pic of a bruise. Any pithy commentary on De Jong? Are you even surprised?
