The Ravens won on Sunday, moving them from No. 4 to No. 8 in the draft order, and saved a bunch of money in doing so. The top of the draft remains the same with Tennessee at the top followed by Cleveland.
The top of the 2016 NFL Draft order remains the same from last week with the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 followed by the Cleveland Browns at No. 2. After the top two is where it gets interesting.
The notable move this week is Baltimore dropping from No. 4 to No. 8 after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Ravens are one of three teams at 5-10 heading into the week's final season, and there are three teams at 4-11. San Diego at No. 3 and Dallas at No. 4 are separated by just the slightest of margins in strength of schedule.
Strength of schedule is the first tiebreaker in the draft order if records are the same. If those are the same, conference record and then division record are used. If all of that is equal, a coin flip takes place at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. The strength of schedule below uses full-season schedules.
But lets look again at Baltimore's move from four to eight this week. The difference in potential draft prospects with that type of fall is obvious, though Baltimore should be able to get a fine player outside the top five. Look at it from a monetary standpoint, though. The difference in contract dollars from the No. 4 pick this year (Amari Cooper) and the No. 8 pick (Vic Beasley) is just over $8 million.
Looking ahead to Week 17, the Titans at the Colts and the Browns play at the Steelers.
