Twitter is back as a streaming option for the Week 5 game between the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.
The NFC West is led by the Los Angeles Rams and nobody really knows what is real anymore. The San Francisco 49ers, like a shining beacon of stability and realized expectations, are unsurprisingly 1-3. But the Arizona Cardinals, the team favored to win the division, are also 1-3 and are coming off a loss to the Rams in Week 4.
Those same Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks and were shut out, 28-0, by the 49ers. Oh, and the 49ers lost to the Seahawks by three-plus scores. Because football never makes sense.
In the primetime spotlight of Thursday Night Football, the 49ers will take on the Cardinals as both teams try to climb out of the basement of the NFC West. The game will kick off just after 8:25 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast on both the NFL Network and CBS.
This game will also be one of those that are streamed live online via Twitter. The NFL saw an increase in viewers in their second streamed Twitter game, but those numbers were not allowed to grow in Week 4 as the game was solely on the NFL Network. But now an even bigger audience will get to experience the thrill of Blaine Gabbert vs. Drew Stanton firsthand!
Stanton is starting because the Cardinals lost Carson Palmer to a concussion late against the Rams. Palmer had to enter the league's concussion protocol and a short week typically means a player won't be cleared in time. He was unable to progress through the protocol this week and the Cardinals announced on Wednesday that Palmer would miss the game.
