The group stage is finally here, and it's bringing some excellent matches for us to watch.
The Champions League is back, with the group stage about to begin and all the glory that brings with it at hand. Europe's biggest clubs are set to square off against each other, bringing us all kinds of high-profile and high-entertainment matches. It's days like these that made many of us become fans of the sport, with rare matchups between big clubs and upstarts alike. We'll have close matches between titans, we'll have jaw-dropping upsets, and we'll have some of the best matches of the season. The Champions League is back, and the best days of the season are here.
Tuesday Match To Watch: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Arsenal
The match of the first day with the highest-profile combination of clubs, this one promises to be quite entertaining -- but maybe not for the reasons you think. While PSG and Arsenal are both very talented teams and worthy of significant praise, they're also two teams that have been wildly imperfect early in their domestic campaigns. Arsenal have looked far from their best in their first four matches, looking vulnerable even in their two wins, while PSG are coming off the heels of suffering two straight eye-opening upsets. That kind of form gives this match the potential to be weird and wild, and that means one thing: it has a very high chance of being a whole lot of fun.
Wednesday Match To Watch: Tottenham Hotspur vs. AS Monaco
While neither club is the best in their respective nation, both are tough and talented teams well worth your time to watch. Both Tottenham and Monaco are hungry teams eager to prove they belong on the big stage, and with both teams likely battling for second place in the group behind Bayern Munich, they know there is a lot on the line in this match despite it being their first of the group stage. Neither team will pull punches or hold anything back, making this a match that anyone should watch, be they fan or neutral or otherwise. When the stakes are high and the teams as determined as they are talented, only good things can happen.
"Undercard" Match To Watch: Dynamo Kyiv vs. Napoli
Not every Champions League match is a high-profile affair between two titans of Europe, but that doesn't mean they won't be interesting. For such an example, look no further than this tilt in Kiev on Tuesday. A rebuilt and retooled Napoli side is heading to the Ukraine to battle a Dynamo Kyiv side that they've never faced in competitive action before. While the Italian side is very talented and arguably the favorite in their group, they also struggled badly two years ago when they had to venture to the same country in the Europa League. If they're going to do better they'll have to beat a very talented team of their own right in Dynamo, and this should make for the kind of close-fought, high-energy match that quietly becomes a fantastic game for fans and neutrals alike to watch.
