The remainder of the race will continue at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
Bristol Motor Speedway's annual August Sprint Cup night race will need to finish in daylight, as steady rain forced NASCAR to suspend Saturday's Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race until Sunday afternoon.
The race will resume at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, and will be broadcasted on CNBC.
After lightning delayed the start by 40 minutes, 38 laps were completed before rain forced a red flag stoppage for one hour, 24 minutes. Once that storm cell cleared, NASCAR attempted to resume the race, but as drivers were circling the half-mile track preparing to restart, another front moved in bringing another downpour.
Officially, 452 laps remain with defending Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch scored the leader. Rookies Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney are second and third, respectively.
Bristol is the third race of 2016 to be postponed due to inclement weather. Both events at Pocono Raceway -- one in June, the other in August -- were rescheduled from Sunday to Monday.
Sunday's forecast calls for the chance of isolated thunderstorms, according to meteorologist and SB Nation contributor Brian Neudorff.
