Odell Beckham Jr. gives himself credit for making Josh Norman relevant

That $75 million contract Josh Norman signed? He owes it all to Odell Beckham Jr.

Menswear enthusiast and football player Odell Beckham Jr. knows exactly why cornerback Josh Norman signed with Washington in the offseason. He also believes that Norman would be just another player if it hadn't been for the fracas the two players got into during a Week 15 game between the Giants and Panthers last season.

Beckham shared his feelings as part of a fashion spread and interview in next month's GQ magazine (via Pro Football Talk).

"If I wasn't playing him twice a year, maybe people wouldn't bring it up as much. But now it'll be a lot more media attention for him, attention that I don't really look for, attention that I don't need. The reason he's become so relevant is because of me."

The Beckham-Norman fight has since become the stuff of legend. NFL owners passed a rule at this spring's league meetings mandating ejections for players with two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in one game (which wouldn't have gotten either players ousted in this instance).

Both players have had a difficult time moving on too. Norman was downplaying Beckham's receiving skills in a May television appearance, which prompted a response.

Which demanded another response.

And here we are.

Norman was relevant enough to get a $75 million deal from Washington this offseason, setting him up for twice yearly rematches with Beckham.

Both players claim not to want the attention that's come from their melee, but neither one shies away from it.
