The Kansas City Royals standout drove in two runs -- including a game-tying solo home run in the second inning -- to help the American League to the 2016 MLB All-Star Game victory.
There wasn't much in the way of scoring in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game, but what scoring there was came mostly from royalty.
The American League earned a 4-2 victory over their National League counterparts Tuesday night in San Diego, and all four of their runs came off the bats of Kansas City Royals. One of those Royals -- first baseman Eric Hosmer -- earned most valuable player honors following the game.
Hosmer went 2-for-3 during the contest, knocking in a solo home run in the second inning to tie the game, 1-1, and adding another RBI in the third inning to put the American League's fourth and final run on the scoreboard. His shot off Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto in the second inning was one of the game's bigger highlights:
The 2016 MLB All-Star Game marked the first All-Star appearance for Hosmer, who has hit .299 this season with 49 RBIs and 13 homers in 87 games.
The American League's other two runs were scored when fellow Royals' All-Star Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give his team the lead.
