Every deal that has happened on and leading up to the Aug. 1 deadline.
The MLB trade deadline is one day away, and the rumors and trades are on fire. The Red Sox drew first blood when they traded for Drew Pomeranz and set a tilted scale for the rest of the baseball market. Players are now on the move, with a bombshell being dropped on Sunday that Andrew Miller had been traded to the Indians in exchange for four pitching prospects.
Andrew Cashner was dealt to the Marlins on Friday morning, but a surprise on Sunday was the Jonathan Lucroy deal that fell through when the catcher nixed the trade. Nevertheless, the Indians have become the team to beat in the American League with their acquisition of Miller, despite being unable to land Lucroy.
Flame-throwing reliever Aroldis Chapman was traded to the Cubs in return for four players that includes three prospects. Also, the Blue Jays upped their outfield with Melvin Upton, Jr., and then on the same day swapped bodies with the Mariners. The trade market is teetering on the edge of a big weekend of trading, and Monday will only get better.
Another notable trade to this point occurred when the Cubs acquired left-handed pitcher Mike Montgomery and minor league right-hander Jordan Pries from the Mariners in exchange for two minor league prospects. And on Thursday night, Eduardo Nunez was sent packing to the Giants. With that said, expect things to heat up rather quickly now that we're within the one-week window of the deadline.
