A brake failure caused Keselowski to crash head-on into a tire barrier on the fastest portion of the track.
Brad Keselowski walked away uninjured from a brutal crash that destroyed the front end of his car during a test Tuesday at Watkins Glen International.
The accident occurred as Keselowski entered Turn 1, the fastest portion of the 2.45-mile road course, sending him nose-first into a protective tire barrier. He tweeted that a brake failure caused the shunt.

Keselowski was evaluated and released from the infield care center, Team Penske confirmed. The 2012 Sprint Cup champion was one of 16 drivers taking part in the two-day test in advance for the Aug. 7 race at the track located in Upstate New York.

The accident is similar to one Keselowski was involved in during a 2011 test at Road Atlanta, in which he also lost his brakes. In that crash he suffered a broken left ankle, but did not miss any races. He won four days later at Pocono Raceway -- coincidentally the site of Sunday's Sprint Cup race.
