A timeline of Mark Cuban considering being either vice president nominee or maybe even president

For a person who has never held an elected office, Mark Cuban has been a popular person during the 2016 presidential election cycle. He's been a little all over the map too, praising candidates on both sides while also criticizing the same candidates.

The latest headlines include Cuban's willingness to be Hilary Clinton's running mate. But, there was a lot leading up to this point. It's been an unpredictable election and Cuban has been along for the ride.

July 28, 2015: Cuban says Trump's campaign style is "more important than anything any candidate has done in years."

In the early times of the election, Cuban was mostly impressed with how Donald Trump was taking a different approach. Breaking the mold of how a typical politician acts and talks.

"I don't care what his actual positions are," Cuban wrote in a CyberDust post, via Business Insider. "I don't care if he says the wrong thing. He says what's on his mind. He gives honest answers rather than prepared answers. This is more important than anything any candidate has done in years."

July 30, 2015: Cuban says he would consider being Trump's vice president.

After praising his unique campaign approach, Cuban said he would consider being Trump's running mate although he added that it was unlikely.

"Would I consider?" Cuban said according to Business Insider. "Yes. Would I do it. Probably not. I'm not cut out for politics. At least [the] way they are now. Maybe in the future if Trump truly impacts how the game is played."

Feb. 16, 2016: Cuban adds a stipulation to being Trump's VP.

Cuban told KTCK-AM 1310 The Ticket that he'd be Trump's vice president ""As long as he said he's listen to me in everything I said we'd be okay."

Feb. 18, 2016: Cuban says it will be "very, very difficult" for Hilary Clinton to win the election.

"I think Hillary is smart, but she's just upset so many people on the other side, that it's going to be very, very difficult," Cuban said, via Inc.com.

May 4, 2016: Cuban says Trump is running the Seinfeld campaign, a campaign about nothing.

"Donald Trump is going to run a Seinfeld campaign," Cuban said via Mediaite. "It's going to be the campaign about nothing." The Donald recognized early on --€” it's not about issues at all. A lot of people could care less. The only thing they care about is 'What are you gonna do for me?'"

May 14, 2016: Cuban says GOP recruiters reached out in an effort to get him to run for president.

Although he said he didn't see it happening, Cuban said he was contacted and also had a plan for how he would respond to Trump.

"He could come after me all he wanted, and he knows I would put him in his place," Cuban said via the Washington Post. "All that said, again, I don't see it happening. There isn't enough time."

May 20, 2016: Cuban says he would "absolutely" consider being Clinton's vice president.

While he said he would consider being Clinton's VP during an appearance on Meet the Press, Cuban said it would come with caveats.

"Absolutely," Cuban said on the idea of being Clinton's running mate. "But the key would be that she'd have to go more to center. ... If she's willing to listen, if she's willing to, you know, hear other sides of things, then I'm wide open to discussing it."

Thus far in the election, we have Cuban showing at least some interest in being the vice president nominee on either side. We also have Republican's showing interest in Cuban running for president. At this rate Cuban will probably end up winning the presidency as a Democrat.

This is all during a cycle when Cuban said he wasn't really interested in being involved. He's left the door open for down the road, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see him run in 2020 or beyond. That is if he doesn't wind up in office this time around ... in some form.
