James Harden made 6-8 shots in the first quarter against Golden State on Wednesday. Add in 4-4 from the free throw line and he scored 18 points in the first quarter. Certainly with a scoring outburst like that, the Rockets would have posted an impressive first quarter.
Not quite
Houston scored 20 points in the quarter with the only two non-Harden posts coming from a pair of Dwight Howard free throws.
That's right, no other player on the Rockets made a shot from the floor in the entire first quarter. Harden went 6-8 while his teammates combined to go 0-15. That included 0-7 from three-point range.
James Harden is a very good scorer, but if the Rockets are going to upset Golden State, they probably need him to not have to do ALL of the scoring.
