A phenomenon has taken over the Carolina Panthers locker room and it isn't Cam Newton dabbing all the time. Instead, players have grown accustomed to "Creedbombing" each other.
Let's let linebacker Ben Jacobs walk you through the process, via Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer.
Jacobs will take a lyric from one of Creed's hit songs and, in Stapp's signature raspy voice, belt it out on a teammate while walking to the practice field.
"The key is you've got to make really deep, direct eye contact," Jacobs told me last week. "So if you Creedbomb someone you've got to look them directly in the eye."
And here it is in action.
Basically a photo or videobomb combined with Rickrolling.
Now, you might think think being the crux of a joke might make the band Creed dislike the Panthers. Instead, it's the exact opposite of that. Creed lead singer Scott Stapp has become a Panthers fan as a result of the Creedbombing craze.
"Like, are you serious? This is so cool," Stapp said, via the Charlotte Observer. "And I just felt like, hey man, there are Creed fans on the Panthers?"
I'm not sure being huge Creed fans was actually the driving force behind the Panthers starting this, but either way it's caught on and a number of Panthers are now walking around the locker room singing Creed. Even star corner Josh Norman. Back to Jonathan Jones:
After last week's 49-15 victory over the Cardinals to move on to Super Bowl 50, cornerback Josh Norman Creedbombed safety Kurt Coleman during an interview.
"Above all the others we'll fly/This brings tears to my eyes/My sacrifice," Norman sang. "That's a Creedbomb right there!"
The 1985 Chicago Bears has the Super Bowl Shuffle, well the 2015 Carolina Panthers have the Creedbomb. They might even have a video of it, just like the Bears. No really, Stapp wants to meet the team and shoot a music video around Creedbombing.
If the Panthers win the Super Bowl, we might get a player Creedbombing Roger Goodell during the trophy presentation.
