Jim Harbaugh took what appeared to be a jab at the 49ers and departed head coach Jim Tomsula on Twitter.
Jim Harbaugh is very happy to be the head coach at the University of Michigan. That doesn't mean he isn't still bitter about how things ended with the San Francisco 49ers. After the 49ers fired head coach Jim Tomsula after just one season Sunday night, Harbaugh tweeted this:
Do not be deceived. You will reap what you sow.
— Coach Harbaugh (@CoachJim4UM) January 4, 2016
Harbaugh's Twitter account is a trove of wonderful things, most of them exceedingly upbeat. He professes his love for Darth Vader, talks to Nick Minaj and reveals the inner workings of his very weird brain.
As Niners Nation points out, however, there were rumors that Tomsula was working behind Harbaugh's back in San Francisco, before CEO Jed York promoted the long-time defensive line coach to the head position. Harbaugh has seemingly subtweeted the 49ers in the past, quoting his former running back Frank Gore in saying, "These haters can't hold me back." Tomsula was needled about his relationship with Harbaugh before the season in an exceedingly awkward interview.
Harbaugh was successful in San Francisco, taking the 49ers to a Super Bowl in his second season, but was let go after going 8-8 in 2014. He guided the Wolverines to a 10-win season culminating in a blowout win over Florida in the Citrus Bowl. The 49ers won their last game of the season to improve to 5-11.
