It's a natural hatty, too!
After breaking an 18-game goalless drought in Monday's loss to the Sharks, Sam Bennett now has his first career hat trick. In the first period against the Panthers, Bennett struck three times -- only interrupted by Johnny Gaudreau's 19th of the year -- to help the Flames get a 4-0 leg up on the Panthers after 20 minutes of play.
Not only did Bennett score a natural hat trick -- with all three goals happening within the span of one period -- he also beat potential Vezina Trophy candidate Roberto Luongo three times in the span of 17 minutes. The first came less than a minute in at 56 seconds and the last came just past the 17-minute mark.
Florida pulled Luongo to start the second period, so the 19-year-old can add chasing veteran netminder Luongo to his list of achievements in his short two-season career.
