Last week, we saw the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Detroit Pistons on a Matt Barnes game-winner, thanks in part to the referees not seeing the coach call for a timeout.
Thursday night in Charlotte, we had a similar event, but this time the refs caught Kyle Lowry calling timeout, so this half-court heave from DeMar DeRozan didn't give the Raptors the lead:
The play the Raptors drew up after the timeout did not lead to a score, and the Raptors and Hornets went into overtime.
I guess letting players shoot from half-court with the game on the line, rather than calling a timeout to draw up a play, is the right play and coaches have been doing it wrong for decades.
